3eanuts

My roommate Dan has started a new tumblr for Peanuts cartoons minus the last frame. It's a great premise; sorta like the hilariously-altered Garfield minus Garfield, the abrupt end of 3eanuts strips highlights existential undertones that may more accurately represent Schultz's take on the world.

Here are some examples:

  1. This is wonderful. I firmly believe that one day your entire apartment will be fabulously well-to-do.

I want to be able to keep in touch with people after graduation, and I figured that now was the time to start making those tenuous virtual connections so that they didn't dissolve completely after May 8th.

"I believe! Oh, help my unbelief."

    (Heretical? Eesh.)

  2. Update: since I posted this entry, Dan's 3eanuts strip has gone viral. It has been reposted and reviewed at such sundry internet destinations as the Onion A.V. Club, Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch, The Washington Post Online, NPR's "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" website, and most recently, TIME magazine's online newsfeed. Yesterday his tumblr went from around 80 followers in the morning to over 1,800 by nightfall. His page has received over a hundred thousand hits. How far will it go? I suppose only TIME will tell, and if it does, then surely he will have arrived.

Ladies and gentlemen, my roommate has created an internet phenomenon.

  3. It's eerie to realize that what happened this last weekend is most likely the most impactful (as far as wide reaching) thing that probably all of us in the apartment will do in our lives. Good job Dan.
